Tournament Format & Rules
Everything you need to know before taking to the pitch. Our tournaments are designed to provide competitive, enjoyable football while keeping the format simple and professionally organised.
Tournament Format
Day 1: 9-a-side group stage with teams divided into two groups. Every team plays each team in their group, with matches lasting 20 minutes.
Day 2: The top two teams compete in an 11-a-side Final, played over two 30-minute halves.
All remaining teams enter a 9-a-side knockout competition, playing 20-minute matches for 3rd Place and the Wooden Spoon.
Player Eligibility
The Over 35s tournament allows each team to have younger players within their squad.
Players aged 30–34 are eligible, however a maximum of two under-age players may be on the pitch at any one time.
Teams may register more than two players aged 30–34 in their squad, provided only two are playing at the same time.
Match Rules
Matches are played under standard FIFA Laws of the Game, including the offside rule.
Goalkeepers are not permitted to kick the ball directly from their hands.
Standard yellow and red card rules apply. A player sent off for violent conduct will take no further part in the tournament.
